While technology affects every imaginable aspect of our lives, the age-old art form of forging metal with fire and hammer has seen little change. Central Texas is especially fortunate to be home to dozens of metal artists and blacksmiths working independently to produce architectural and artistic pieces.

From March 3 through the 31st, Anvil Art will present “Anchored by Architecture,” a showcase of the variety of styles in functional and sculptural metalwork. Participants include Bill Bastas, Laura Garanzuay, and Courtney Gray, among many others. The show will occupy space at the Design Center of Austin at Penn Field, where you can also shop for everything for your home from custom doors and countertops to European sinks and hardware.
